We are currently searching for an experienced, mechanically inclined Operations Technician who thrives in a team based environment and demonstrates positive attitude to join our Operations team in Dartmouth Nova Scotia.
 
Reporting directly to the Production Manager and directed day to day by the Operations lead hand, The Operations Technician is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of equipment according to established Standard Operating Procedures and production records for the manufacture of natural health products in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).  This position is subject to shift work and occasional overtime as required.
 Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Production Duties:
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and Good Manufacturing Processes (SOPs/GMP) to combine ingredients and operate equipment resulting in compliant product
  • Adhere to all SOP’s for shipping and receiving materials
  • Lift and stack materials onto pallets and secure for movement
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to keep work area clean at all times
  • Daily staging of raw materials for production
  • Document all actions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Routinely monitor manufacturing processes and recognize potential process issues as they arise
  • Work in close collaboration with Quality Department to ensure compliance of product and process
  • Choose appropriate materials for use including first in first out.
  • Maintain adequate house-keeping functions to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations and standards
  • Adhere to all company health and safety requirements
 
General Operations Duties:
  • Load/Unload trailers for delivery and receiving
  • Apply shipping labels to cases and pallets
  • Accurately pick orders according to requirements and specifications
  • Store/remove materials in warehouse following First In/First Out (FIFO)
  • May include other duties as assigned from time to time
Required skills and experience:
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple roles as cross training is a requirement
  • Direct experience with processing and packaging equipment is preferred
  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent education is required
  • Conscientious of safety and quality with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to perform routine mathematical calculations and conversions for weights and other measurements
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs, safely maneuver heavy items and stand for prolonged periods
  • Warehouse experience in shipping/receiving considered and asset
  • Production experience in the natural health product, pharmaceutical or food industry an asset
  • Forklift experience/training will be required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a production environment
  • Must be a true team player who is also able to work independently as required
  • Functional computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) are considered an asset
