    Adults take 6 capsules in the morning and 6 capsules during the day, not immediately before bedtime, with a full glass (250 ml/8 oz.) of water. Take 2 hours before or after taking medication. Effects are observed 12 to 24 hours after first dose, and may take 2 to 3 days.

    Consult a health care practitioner if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if symptoms worsen or if laxative effect does not occur within 7 days. Consult a health care practitioner if you are having difficulty breastfeeding after taking this product. Consult a health care practitioner if you are experiencing abdominal pain, chest pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, or having difficulty in swallowing after taking this product. These could be signs of abdominal constrictions of the gastro-intestinal tract, disease of the oesophagus, and/or the superior opening of the stomach (cardia), potential or existing intestinal blockage, paralysis of the intestine, megacolon, faecal impaction, inflamed bowel or appendicitis. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking medications which inhibit peristaltic movement (e.g. opioids, loperamide). Bulk-forming laxatives may not be appropriate for use in opioid induced constipation. Contra-indications: Do not use if you have difficulty swallowing, if you have diabetes mellitus in which blood sugar is difficult to regulate, if you are experiencing a sudden change in bowel habits that has persisted for more than 2 weeks, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, or failure to defecate following the use of another laxative product. Do not use concomitantly with thyroid hormones unless you are under the supervision of a health care provider. Known adverse reactions: Hypersensitivity such as allergy has been known to occur following inhaled and/or ingested psyllium; in which case, discontinue exposure and/or use. Sudden increase in dietary fiber may cause temporary gas or bloating.
